Social Documents is a three-year programme of exhibitions, screenings, workshops and talks exploring artists' engagement with documentary processes and formats.

An increasing number of artists currently employ photography and the moving image to work with social processes and document social realities. In response, Stills presents Social Documents, an eclectic programme exploring this turn towards the documentary which considers in depth themes ranging from ethics and the politics of representation to the effects of globalisation. By framing this durational programme as a research project comprising exhibitions, screenings, reading groups, workshops and seminars we aim to initiate public dialogues which offer new types of opportunities for reflection and engagement.
