with crèche for children under five Leena asked
them to exchange roles and try to grasp the meaning of
what is home and what is belonging from both points of
view.
Ricochet invited the Young Saheliya Group and their mums
to investigate the idea of belonging to two cultures by
making a precious book using an experimental photographic
technique called Liquid Light.
Leena asked mums and daughters to exchange roles and try
to grasp the meaning of belonging from another point of
view. The participants documented their thoughts photographically
and then came to the darkrooms at Stills and used photographic
emulsion to print their images onto paper. Finally they
applied personal touches using paint and ink before binding
them together to create a set of beautiful hand-bound books – one
for the mum and one for the daughter.
