Zoe's work has come from an object based background and has moved into lens based and new media. This shift has meant the development of a collaborative practice with other artists, photographers, editors, and musicians. Zoe is currently working collaboratively with artist Neil Bromwich on a project for Keilder and are resident in Keilder's newly built residency centre. Kielder is close to the historic frontier of Hadrian's Wall which has inspired the idea for 'Fantasy Frontiers' and includes the creation of an open and moveable borderline - an inflatable mountain ridge with escape slides running down either side, referencing army equipment and inflatable decoys. The frontier will become an all terrain vehicle floating on the lake or secured to the land like a tent.
This project relates to previous works where Zoe has created objects that suggest an escape route from the normality of our lives, while on further examination it is clear that these objects would in fact fail to satisfy what they appear to promise.
