Bryony Day
Bryony is a writer and video artist, who specialises in live video performance. After graduating in Film Production at Edinburgh College of Art, she now works freelance on a broad range of film projects including the live video performance for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2009/10. Bryony’s practice consists of creating a series of moving image loops that are then mixed live in a range of performance and installation contexts. Bryony is currently working on a council commission to create a multi-layered stop-frame animation, mixed live as a 3D building projection She also films live events and edits for corporate clients. Final Cut is the essential tool to all that she does, and it is her greatest pleasure to pass that knowledge onto others.
"I have been actively engaged in the arts since my late teens. In particular, I am fascinated with how a work interacts with its audience. My practice consists in creating a series of moving image loops that are then mixed live in a range of performance and installation contexts. In this way I actively create a live image discourse that is shaped by audiences’ reactions to a particular projected moment. Alongside developing my own work, I have also been involved in educating children, young people and adults for the last five years. I have a broad experience of engaging new audiences for the arts by adjusting approaches to learning depending on the learner and making specialist terminology accessible. I have a real passion for new ideas and approaches to art practice, seeking to translate concepts into practical expression and nurturing discussions around work to widen understanding"
