Re:Create Artist in Residence - Alice Betts
Alice’s work deals with perceptions of space and explores our relationship with both urban and natural environments. Though her temporary site-specific installations are three-dimensional they often refer to the drawn line, diagram or map: ‘the foundation of my work is in drawing activities; drawing in its widest context, from pencil on paper through photography to placing objects and physical movement; drawing as a means and end to seeing, investigating, heightening and communicating experience’.
With an extensive experience in working creatively with groups and teaching, Alice is now interested in introducing people into her practice by engaging them in the development of her artworks. Through the Re:Create residency Alice will use film and video for the first time to explore perceptions of freedom and ownership with a group of young people using the CCTV cameras in the areas where they live.
