As a centre for creativity, exploration and display of contemporary visual arts, Stills provides photography darkroom and digital facilities which are open to everyone planning to increase personal expression and creativity in their lives. Stills has extensive experience in providing a safe, reliable and professional environment for those willing to explore their creativity and develop skills within a wide artistic community. On a daily basis individuals and groups work closely with artists to explore the themes within Stills’ artistic programme, and to learn about the methodology artists use to develop and realise their artistic ideas.
Stills workshops are clearly defined as key stages to guide the participants through the process of exploring contemporary visual art and producing their own personal works. This process involves a critical exploration, which enables participants to share their opinions about the world around them, give them a voice and a chance to share those findings with others. Through consultation with our local communities, the key priority for participation was confirmed to be a service for community groups, schools and organisations to develop creative projects appropriate for their needs, interests and skills levels. In response to this, our Specialised Training programme for groups was devised to demystify the steps involved.
