| Stills’ is Scotland’s leading photographic production centre. As well as providing state-of-the-art technical facilities, we operate as a hub for creative communities in Scotland.
Following our extensive upgrade in 2007, we now offer suites of darkrooms and digital workstations with high-end peripherals such as a Hasselblad Flextight film scanner and an Espon Stylus 4800 A2 archival printer. We have also established a dedicated video and sound editing studio together with a comfortable communal area which comprises a research library, with all the latest journals and magazines, free WI-FI internet access, collaboration zones and a private meeting room which can be booked through our reception desk. The Cultural Enterprise Office is also on site, delivering specialist business and professional development services for cultural practitioners and businesses.

 |
Since 2001, our facilities have been run on an open access basis, meaning that we have no membership fees – to get started all you need to do is book an induction. We are now open 7 days a week, often until 9pm, and have recently changed our access arrangements so that you can either use our darkrooms and workstations like a studio, hiring them on a weekly or monthly basis, or simply book for a 3 hour session.
| During staffed opening hours, specialist technicians are available to answer any queries you may have, however, if you require training to help you get the most out of our equipment you can sign up for one of our artist-led courses or ask us to arrange a tailored training session, click here for more details.
More information can be found below, if you have any additional questions or would like to book an induction please call us on 0131 622 6200, or email resource@stills.org

RESEARCH
For a number of years we have been building up the Stills library which is now full of often hard-to-find volumes including monographs, artists books and critical readers.
We often use the communal space on the lower ground floor to host a range of events from talks and discussions to performance and experimental music evenings. Keep an eye out for what’s on. |
