We are delighted to invite you to our special
preview for Among the Moderns on Friday 10 November from 7pm - 8pm.
This Winter Stills has teamed up with the
Cinémathèque de Tanger to transform our gallery into a trans-Arab
video library.
Wind your way through our mini cinema spaces and encounter video and film
work produced throughout the diverse cultural, political and social space
of the Arab world; a world that now spans from Beirut to Paris to Los Angeles
and back again.
The featured artists and filmmakers explore alternative histories, the
intersection between tradition and globalisation and engagements with radical
and shifting notions of ‘modernity’ itself.
This exhibition unearths rare works and previously unseen footage from
the archive of the new Cinémathèque de Tanger. Located on
the historic Grand Socco plaza and standing at the auspicious intersection
of the old city (the medina) and the new, this historic building is now
being transformed into Morocco’s leading independent cinema.
