Film Lounge event: Agnes Varda Talk and Screening
An introduction Agnes Varda’s short documentary films. In Ulysse, Varda revisits one of her own photographs taken on a beach in 1954. Using the simplest of means she investigates the significance of the image both in her life and the lives of her models to create an intimiate and powerful visual essay.
Following a screening of Ulysee, Stills' Programme Fellow, Debi Banerjee and artist, Morwenna Kearsley will discuss Varda’s distinctive film-making style, her relationship to photography and the playful way in which she constructs narrative.
