Darkrooms

Situated beneath the gallery on the Lower Ground Floor are Scotland’s largest open access darkrooms and only dry-to-dry colour print processor. Despite advances in digital technologies, our traditional wet darkrooms remain as popular as ever. Whether you want to get to grips with the basics of this magical medium, experiment with new techniques or produce professional hand-made fibre based and c-type prints, Stills’ darkrooms can meet all of your needs.

Individual darkrooms can be booked on a sessional, weekly or monthly basis and we also offer access to our communal darkroom at reduced rates (see below for more details). All print chemistry is included in session prices except for film processing.
