Stills School is an alternative photography school for 16-25 year olds*. Delivered in three distinct stages you can develop your photography skills and grow as an independent artist.

TASTERS are delivered with established groups and arranged on a group by group basis. The three-hour sessions are light on commitment and allow you to test the waters before signing up to a longer term course. If you run a community group and are interested in a taster session please get in touch.

If you are interested in Stills School as an individual you can apply for Contact.

CONTACT is a 8-week course which will teach you basic photography skills as well as encourage you to develop your own projects. Whether you prefer darkrooms, digital or moving image we’ll make sure you feel confident using your new skills.

During Contact you will have the option to develop skills in the folowing areas:
- Camera handling skills (digital and analogue)
- Film-processing
- Darkroom printing
- Photoshop
- Negative scanning
- Digital printing

The next round of CONTACT will take place at Stills from Friday 2 February - Friday 22 March. There are no costs involved. Equipment and material is provided as well as most travel costs.

The groups are kept small with a maximum of 9 people.

The ACADEMY will provide you with the opportunity to further develop your practice over an even longer period.  Masterclasses, one-to-one mentoring, peer led critiques and full access to facilities provide valuable support in refining projects and gaining vital employability skills.  You must complete CONTACT before enrolling on the ACADEMY.
