Ever wanted to make your own video game? Then this is the course for you! Allowing participants to get to grips with all aspects of game design using the free open-source software 'Blender', this introductory course will provide you with an overview of the fundamentals of game design, including modelling, texturing, and enabling you to work within a gaming engine to create a fully functioning game with interactive environments and characters.

Please note, course participants must be aged 16 or over.

Course Outline

Week 1: Getting started and basic modelling Introduction to 3D and the Blender interface. Learn how to use Basic Navigation controls, Buttons panels, layers, and other important thing to get you started. Also, explore basic modelling techniques.

Week 2: Advanced Modelling and Texturing More advanced modelling rules to start creating characters and environment for your Game. Learn about modifiers, the sculpting tool, gestures, Booleans and other techniques. Also, get involved with materials and textures to give life to your scene.

Week 3: The Game Engine Let the fun begin! It is time for you to create your own game using Blender Game engine. And here comes the great part, you can build a stand alone, all around functional game without writing a single line of code!

Week 4: Actions and Interactions in the Game Environment Learn everything you need to know about your game. Control your Character, create enemies, lives and score point. Build an interactive environment using keys and game levels.
